Alabel is the capital town of Sarangani Province. The Municipality lies between latitudes 6ᵒ 2.5’ and 6ᵒ 17.5’ North, and between longitudes 125ᵒ 36’ East, about 1,150 radial kilometers, southeast of Manila, 545 radial kilometers Southeast of Cebu, 166 radial kilometers South of Davao City and 15 radial kilometers East of General Santos City. It is strategically located in the eastern side of the province if Sarangani, bounded on the North by the Municipality of Malungon, on the south by Lun Padidu River, on the East by the Province of Davao del Sur, and on the west by Buayan River.
Based on the DENR-LMB, the total land area of the Municipality of ALabel is 51,098.27 hectares or 510.98 square kilometers, (30 % A & D, 70 % upland areas) about 12.9% of the total land area of Sarangani Province.
The diversion of usage of productive lands and municipal waters to non production undertakings contributes to low productivity in agriculture and fishery. Producers of marine and agricultural products have been at the mercy of financing and price manipulations by middlemen. On the agricultural sector, inadequate irrigation projects, agricultural machineries, and illegal fishing are among the some security concerns besetting the municipalty. There are some plans among agricultural and waters that the municipal officials will implement these are the following: 1. Ensure sufficient and sustainable crops, livestock’s and fisheries within the limits of available resources. 2. To promote holistic environmental awareness and participation of stakeholders through consultation and community organizing. 3. To promote agro-industrial plantation
4. To regain and maintain sustainability of traditional fishing grounds. 5. To strengthen the agricultural and fishery marketing system through the provision of post harvest infrastructure and services. 6. To establish sustainable and equitable livelihood for small fisher folks and farmers.
