Tiger Woods. Derrick Rose. Steve Jobs. These are some of the most famous and richest people, they all do something different in this world but all of them began with a dream. Everyone starts with a dream in their lives, some dreams are elaborate and some dreams are simple.In The Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry, the characters all start with a dream some change for the better and some changed for the worse. The characters all try to improve their life or lifestyle by improving their standing in the world to get somewhere in life they need to do that and show that. The American Dream is pursued in the book and in the real world. The American Dream is to improve ones standing in this world. The characters dreams in The raisin in the Sun show their desire to change their political,social or economical standing in the world. Beneatha’s, Walters, and Ruths dreams all show change to their standing in the world or also known as The American Dream. Beneathas dream desires change on her social standing in the world. In this scene beneatha aasagi are talking about how Willy lost all their money. They get deep into conversation and Beneatha's ends up pouring out her feelings to Asagai. Beneatha says, "I wanted to cure and care for people.... ( Hansberry,132). It really represents what Beneatha is about and what her dream is about. Benatha wants to show people that she can cure people and care for people even despite her race and gender. She wants to change her social standing on the world and by showing people that she can accomplish her dreams. Benatha wants to improve her social standing and be something in this world and really make something out of her life. In this scene Walter and Beneatha are talking about how Beneatha is doing in school and also about the insurance check. They are fighting over it because Beneatha calms to have a bigger dream that she wants to accomplish than Walters. Beneatha says "and forgive me for ever wanting to be anything at all"....
