Task 1:
Networks have various roles in different organization. The roles become more complex and important with different organization. Major roles of network in different organizations are categorized into two:- •Resource Sharing:

“Resource Sharing allows different customers to share the same resource at the same time. There are three models that can be used : either sharing of resource is disabled (used widely),sharing is allowed (the customer decides whether to share resources with other customers), or sharing of resources is always possible (this make resource sharing compulsory for all the clients to share the resource with others).Forced sharing is a good concept for resources such as dormitories and optional sharing can be used for big yachts in a yacht club or basketball courts where a single customer can either rent the whole resource or share it with other members.” http://www.planyo.com/faq.php?q=135

“Communication is the way through which exchange and flow of information and ideas from one person to another takes place; it involves a sender transmitting an idea, information, or feeling to a receiver. Effective communication occurs only if the receiver understands the exact information or idea that the sender wanted to transmit. Many of the problems that occur in an organization are the either the direct result of people failing to communicate and/or processes, which leads to confusion and can cause good plans to fail.” http://www.nwlink.com/~donclark/leader/leadcom.html

Role of network in an Academic Organization:-
In academic world of library, resources need to be shared within the organization. The reason why the resources must be shared within the organization is listed below:- The interlibrary loan burden can be distributed. The distributed burden would ease out the work for the person handling the distribution. It increasers the efficiency of the people working over in the library department. If the same resources are handled by different people in the network, in turn it increases the efficiency of the staff. For e.g. Yearly report or Member’s report. It helps to overcome the common mistakes. The eradication of the common mistake helps to save more time and reduce the working errors. Resource Sharing makes the systems used sustainable and executable easily. The systems used in academic institutions needs to be maintained by volunteers and run on a participating institutions server. Communication. A single person in the institution can play a number of different communication roles in different types of management level in an organization. The different level of management is Operational level, management level, execution level. Communication is very essential among this level of management.

Functions of Client server computers on a network:-
File and hardware sharing:
The server manages files, software, printers, and other shared hardware on behalf of all client computers on the network. Since all client machines are connected to the server, anyone from the member of staff can access resources available to them at any time using any computer connected to the network. The server reduces the size of the client file or hardware request and then priorities it. As a result, the rush on the network is reduced and communication only flows between the client, server and the shared hardware without interrupting communication with the rest of the client machines.

Network management:
As the number of computers on your network increases, greater organization is required to operate efficiently. Network management tools in the server’s network operating system help to manage files, printers, software and user data at the server or remotely. The server is set in a way so that each user has access to their own directory, along with public directories where applications are stored. Shared directories allow academic institutions to set up different groups or the whole...
