A Day of Happy Moments
A day of happy moments Pleasure is something which satisfies our senses but happiness is something deep seated. It is something which is much nearer to our soul. A hot cup of coffee on a chilly day would surely bring pleasure and not happiness.
Now I shall say when I was very happy. Even from my early days, I used to take interest in games. My elder brothers used to take me to the sports and matches. Whenever I saw the victors receiving trophies, I eagerly wished that I must be on the victory stand one day. As I came to the secondary school, I took interest in long distance running. With some boys of my class, I used to take to the track and run. In one of the inter-school competitions I came first in the one kilometer race. This gave me not only satisfaction but also encouraged me to put in more and more effort. I was regularly on the track practicing. I learnt the techniques from my physical instructor. From one kilometer I Learnt slowly to run two kilometers within three minutes. The day when I can do it, is still far-off. Still unceasingly I practice long distance running.
The Inter-district Sports Meet of the schools came and I was selected for 1000 meter race. It was a red letter day in my life. The event was announced and along with five others, I was standing on the track. Hundreds of people were looking at us. We were set on the mark and the gun went off. I started steadily and knew that I must have spare energy for the last lap. It was a three round business. In the first two rounds, I kept myself the second or third. In the third round, Picked up speed and was running like a colt, left others far behind and breasted the tape in the record time. The excitement was so much that I was almost unconscious for a few minutes. Then I ran to the victory stand. My joy knew no bounds when my name was announced first and I took the salute. It was the glorious day and I enjoyed boundless happiness.

My last event was the 200 meter dash and as I got set in my blocks my heart pounded. I was beyond nervous but I knew I had a point to prove. The race started and as I was running the only thing on my mind was crossing the finish line with a new and improved personal record. As I finished, I was out of breath and everything seemed blurry but all I could hear was my coach screaming in excitement. I heard him yell at the top of his lungs, “PR, You did it! I knew you could do it!” The entire night I thought back on my past and could not believe I had just ran the best time I ever had in four…

It was a scorching hot October day in Palatine, Illinois. As my team and I warmed up for our cross country race we could feel the sun fry us. The Palatine Meet of Champions is always a competitive meet and this was the last time I would toe the line there. I was nervous. Thoughts started rushing through my head and I tried to stay calm. As the day went on, it was time to go to the line and start the race. Right before the gun went off;, I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. I visualized success. The gun went off and I bolted for the bottleneck. As we came to the last mile, I was in great position. I started making my way to the front and I felt like I was flying. Although I did not win, I placed fifth against many nationally ranked runners. I felt like I was on top of the world. At that moment I knew I wanted to pursue the dream of running collegiately. Later that week, I received a call from Coach Chorny from Miami University telling me that he would like me to run as a RedHawk. I was hooked after my official visit and later that month, I signed my letter of intent. My journey was set to continue.…

. In “the sources of happiness” his holiness the Dalai Lama and Howard Cutler said “true happiness relates more to the mind and heart. Happiness that depends on mainly on physical pleasure is unstable, one day it’s there , the next day it may not” (30). Now as that clearly states, pleasure is something that can bring you temporary happiness but it only last for a certain time and it may not always be there, unlike happiness, once you reach that point in your life it will always be there, well that might not always be the case because you never know what the future is holding for us, but for now that feeling of joy you have is something alot wish to…

Well that relies upon how you characterize happiness. Pleasurable encounters do make us feel great. In any case, they don't lead to a life of fulfillment, feeling of significance, and feeling invigorated. This is the reason they don't last. Enjoyments, then again, happen when we move past basically restoring homeostatic balance into the realm of psychic development. These are the things we keep in mind, the recollections that stay with us since they give our lives meaning. Furthermore, yes, they do bring us happiness. So what is the difference between pleasure and enjoyment? The most simple explanation is the distinction drawn by psychologists in what we now call "positive psychology" movement. So study your strengths and your virtues and learn to thrive in each and every…

My class and I took a few pictures before the race and we stretched a lot. A few minutes passed by and we had to get in our starting positions. So the race was about to start and there was hundreds of people around me and I was still a little nervous. The guy shot the gun up and I sprinted through many people. About half way through the first mile I slowed down and walked for a bit. Someone came up to me and said to at least jog. So I started jogging and I did that for about a mile and a half. Once it came to the second mile there was water cups, I grabbed two dumped one on my face and the other I drank. Since there was so many people I didn’t even know what place I was in or even how far I was. I was getting really tired but I hung in and sprinted the rest of the way. I could hear the crowd cheering so I ran like Forest Gump to get to the finish line. There was a timer when I crossed and it was about 35 minutes total and I finished.…

Then, in the 8th grade, I joined the cross country team for Arcola. Because I had been running so much, I came into the season in good shape. I ended up getting in the top five for the school in every race I ran. Although this achievement was important to me, what mattered the most was that I made many new friends in that time-frame of 2-2.5 months. These friends carried on with me through the spring track season, where I made even more friends! With these friends, I made many enjoyable memories and they could not have happened without running.…

    Just Keep Swimming

My sophomore year was the year I tried to get myself more active, so I joined the swim team. I was one of the fastest newbies on the team that year. We’re almost done with our season, and it’s time for KVAC’s. I was very nervous at KVACs because we weren’t competing against just one team. There were a lot of teams there. I had a 50 yard freestyle individual, and as I was waiting on the block for that bright flash of light and the always too loud whistle, I can remember thinking that I was going to win. Looking at the times of the girls I was going against, I knew it was going to be a close call, but when that light flashed and that whistle blew, I was off. I dove in the freezing cold water and kicked until I came to the surface, sucking in a quick breathe of air I put my face back in the water and continued to swim. Flip turns are always my least favorite part because I can never time myself just right to be able to make it with enough breathe, but I counted my strokes, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and then I flipped, pushed off the wall with as much strength as I had and glided through the water. I came up for another breathe of air and even though my arms ached and my heart was pounding for me to take a breathe, I knew if I took a breathe I’d falter and fall behind so I kept right on swimming. Kicking my feet as hard as I could and slamming my hands into the board so I could make the timer go off, I saw that I had come in first. 27.29 seconds. A new record for myself! My coach was waiting for me when I got out of the pool and told me I had made it to states. I wasn’t quite sure what it meant, all I knew was I had come in first, made states, and now had another whole week of practice for states. I was the only one in my group of friends that made it to states, so during that week of practice I was friendless and I thought Rob was going to push the selected individuals chosen for states harder than he’d pushed us all year.…

    A Lucky Day

It was a beautiful Sunday morning, my dad hit upon a sudden idea that he would like us to try something different we have never done before. When hearing that, I couldn’t wait to do something special and funny and expected where Dad was going to take us. With joy and excitement, we kids sang happily and talked cheerfully all the way in the car. When we arrived the quiet and peaceful country with a great view welcoming our visiting, I just felt like I was in a wonderland surrounded with many giant trees, lovely birds, beautiful flowers, and other nature creatures. Of course, I couldn’t miss the good chance of taking pictures of the wonderful scenery. Before long, I heard Dad’s calling not far from me. To my surprise, he was ready to teach me how to catch a fish by giving me a fishing rod. The rivers in the suburbs were so clean and clear that we could see a lot of fish swimming here and there. Actually, it was my first time to try fishing, so I was kind of nervous and excited. As time went by, the longer I waited, the more patience I lost because I got nothing but some plastic bags or let the small fish slip out of my bait. While I was about to give up, the fishing rod in my hand was suddenly shaking hard. Did I catch the big fish? I asked the question in my mind and hoped that my guess was right. Oh, yes, “I got a huuuuuge fish, come over here to help me, Dad! I couldn’t pull it up.” Everybody heard me crying and rushed to the river side to help me pull out the big fish. Everyone in my family was shocked by what I caught. I never thought I was able to get such a pretty big fish. The feeling of catching the first big fish was the same as the feeling of winning the first prize in the lottery game. I thought I was lucky enough because I didn’t have any experience of catching fish. Even though I didn’t get any other surprises from the deep river in the rest time, I was very satisfied with the unexpected harvest. To me, it was a lucky day and it gave me an…

A memorable day is something which is unforgettable, a sweet and a pleasurable thing to remember, to cherish for. Memories of the day when I got my B.Ed results flashed on my eyes. Amidst the huge tension, I went to check my final result in college. I could not have my proper lunch as there was a fear factor that was ruling my mind. My mind was filled with a strange stage of anxiety and expectation. I was at my blue attire, a blue churidar with a white dupatta , which I consider lucky on rare occasions. The sand of time is passing on, filling each moment with more tension. It was making me more and more restless. It was around 3 P.M that the results were unveiled amidst the huge crisis of other candidates. And now finally!!! Got it!! Yes! I got a first class amongst top ten in the list! My joy knew no bounds! I could hardly imagine at that point that I could come out with such flying colors. My teachers who have guided me throughout were present at the moment and they embraced me out of joy and blessed me as well. My heart was throbbing out of excitement.…

    A Special Day

Beep beep beep... the sound of my alarm clock went off. It was seven o'clock in the morning. I was still very sleepy. I didn't want to wake up yet and was just rolling around in bed. I couldn't go back to sleep now that I'm awake. I was laying in bed planning out my day. Today is a very special day for me and I want everything to be perfect. Today is my sweet 16 Birthday. I'm happy but worry at the same time. I wanted to go to school dress in the prettiest outfit and have the nicest hair-do. I quickly got out of bed and rushed to the bathroom. Someone was in there already. I banged on the door to hurry them up. It was my snotty older sister, who thinks she is so pretty and so popular in high school. She always takes forever in the washroom. It's one of the reasons why I have to get up so early just to get to the bathroom before her. Just my luck for the start of the day. My sister has always been mean to me; she always picks on me and makes fun of me especially in front of her senior friends. Ooh I hate her so much. "Hurry up!" I yelled. Finally the door opened and my sister walked out. She gave me the dirtiest look and rolled her eyes at me as she walked away. I don't let her gets to me any more, not today, not on my birthday. I quickly got in the shower and get ready for a perfect day today.…
