Youtube: Good or Bad?
YouTube: Good or Bad? Some people believe that nothing good can come from YouTube, due to the fact that there are so many people using the site and many uploaded videos are left uncensored. YouTube was founded in 2005 by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim (crunchbase). YouTube is the leader in online video sharing. In November 2006, YouTube was bought by Google for $1.65 billion. The first YouTube video was entitled Me at the zoo, and shows co-founder Jawed Karim at the San Diego Zoo. The video was uploaded on April 23, 2005, and can still be viewed on the site. Charlie Bit My Finger, which was uploaded on May 22, 2007, is a viral video that has received the most views of any user generated YouTube video, with over 300 million views. There are many types of videos on the site such as: comedy sketches, vlogs, lyric videos, review videos, how to videos, and many, many more. The total number of videos on the site is over one hundred twenty million. YouTube is a great tool when teaching your students new material. YouTube will pay you to post videos and is a great way to get discovered. There are many good things about YouTube that people tend to over look. YouTube is great for the classroom. There are many educational videos and power points on YouTube. YouTube will enhance the quality of the power point too. There is also a translate feature that can be put on videos for a foreign language class (webpronews). It is also possible to jump to a key point in the video. If someone mentions a certain part of the video in the comment section, YouTube creates a hyperlink which takes you straight to that part of the video. For teachers of children young in age, YouTube has a channel for Sesame Street. The channel has old and new episodes of the show.
