“Youths look up to their parents as role models.” Do you agree?
Nowadays, youths always look up to pop stars, famous speakers or even their leaders in school as their role models. Therefore, do they still look up to their parents as role models? In my opinion, I feel that youths nowadays do not look up to their parents as role models. This is because there is a generation gap between the youths and their parents which result in the difference in mindset between the two parties. Not only that, the lack of time spent between the youths and their parents could also be another reason why youths do not look up to their parents as role models. It is also because of the advancement of technology that causes the youths to drift further apart from their parents. However, some might argue that youths will look up to their parents as role models because parents have lots of knowledge that can be very influential on the youths and will help them to cultivate good character. Firstly, there is a generation gap between the youths and their parents. Parents are usually more conservative than their child. Also, they will usually cling to traditional beliefs that have been passed down from generation to generation. Unlike their parents, youths nowadays are willing to take risks in order to achieve what they want. Also, they are more modern thinking and have their own way of doing things. For example, parents always think that only hard work will allow the child to reach greater heights. Hard work is definitely the key to success. However, youths nowadays will have more creative and effective ways that allow them to reach greater heights within a short period of time. As a result, with this difference in mindset between the youths and their parents, youths do not have to heed the advice of their parents and so need not look up to them. Secondly, the lack of time spent between the youths and their parents could also be another reason why youths do not look up to their parents....
