Joseph Rowntree foundation is a development charity that was founded in 1904 and the aim of it was to tackle the cause of social problems and people experiencing poverty and disadvantage, their homes and communities. The foundation is wonting to make a change for people and places in poverty to make it more of an equal society for the future. One issue I looked at in the foundation is poverty. The foundation is not just about poverty meaning having no money it affects housing, education, aspirations and culture.
Thomas Barnardo is the founder of director homes for poor children. He started Barnardo’s. Thomas came to London from Dublin and saw young people sleeping on the streets begging. It was 1867 and he set up a school and started helping the abused, vulnerable, forgotten and neglected children of east London and his work still continues today. From the foundation of the first Barnardo's home in 1870 to the date of Barnardo’s death, nearly 100,000 children had been rescued, trained and given a better life. Barnardos’s today is that young people and also children should be free from all poverty, abuse and also forgotten and neglected. Barnoardos is there to look after and stand up for children and young people who have those issues. It is to bring out the best in young people. Barnardo’s helps more than 200,000 children, young people and their families every year.
