Good morning everyone.
It’s merely the end of the last quarter of 2009 and we obviously know what big day we are going to look forward to. We are heading towards the 2010national presidential elections in the Philippines. Perhaps, it is not only the Filipinos who are watching out for this event, but the whole world as well which had been, from the beginning, witness to our unforgettable history.
Admittedly, the past elections that transpired had always been associated with controversies like cheating, vote buying, flying voters and other negative issues. And to aid that problem, different sectors of our society have shown concern to make things ironed up today like non-government organizations, strong-willed youth together with the power of media. They launched programs to ensure that every legitimate voter is equipped with enough knowledge and acquaintance which would be useful on that very historical event.
We, the youth is playing a big role in making that day, the start or beginning of amendment and change for what’s better and not the other way around. When we reach 18, we become qualified voters. Let us voice out what we need to say and be heard. We may take advantage of the campaign periods to evaluate the right candidates to vote for. Let’s not be deceived by those dirty tactics and deceitful techniques and brainwashing speeches of politicians who intend nothing but to satisfy their own interests. Be smart, intelligent and critical enough in deciding. Be sure that you’ve researched on the background, achievement, qualifications and character of the candidates you’re choosing. A man of firmness, justness, dignity, sincerity and integrity is who we’re looking for. We, the youth, comprise a big percent of our population and if we will move as one towards the right direction, then we might attain the improvement we are hoping for.
