Descriptive Essay
As the sky darkens and the stars come out to play,he yelling of screaming fans fill the campus as the smell of greasy popcorn and burgers fill the senses. The dust rising up from the mosh pit being formed. The tuning of a guitar and the tapping of a mic may be some signs for a concert to a begin. This is no ordinary concert that will excite you for a mere two hours, but instead, energize your entire weekend. Sunshine Festival is a four day long celebration celebrating the power of christ in the world.
Performers from all walks of life come to perform and show what talents they have to share the light of christ. Thousands of people come from all over the world to come worship with complete strangers. Being a christian music festival alcohol and drugs are not allowed anywhere on campus, not even at the sleeping facilities. The police are surveying the campus 24/7 to make sure that it is a family friendly place to be. Sunshine Festival was first started in 1982 at the Willmar Community College Campus in
Willmar, Minnesota when Bob Poe, christian enthusiast, decided that he wanted to start a summer christian music event for Willmar kids and teens. So Bob got a couple of bands together and got them all to go to Willmar and perform for 1,800 people. The first year of

this event was such a huge success that the small crowd of 1,800 has grown to over
20,000 people every year. Today big name artists like Sidewalk Prophets, Building 421, and Skillet perform every year. One of the best experiences is Tent City. Being able to walk on the cold grass with your bare feet and not tripping over the pesky black tent ropes keeping all the tents down.
