The strategic planning process of an organisation is the process through which major plans are created. Strategic plans involve major decision makers and major resources in the organisation. Strategic managers meet together to identify broad aims and more specific objectives to work towards. Then they create the major plans that will help the organisation to meet objectives. Performance measures are established early on to measure the success of the plan.

Both Tesco and Cancer Research have to set up aims and objectives in order for the business to move forward and be successful. Planning makes it easier for both businesses due to the fact that they know what they have to do in order to achieve the aims and objectives.
