CHAPTER I * Introduction
Over years, there had been growing concern about global warming. Lydia Walker states that according to her Global Warming, also known as the green house effect is a topic that is receiving a lot of attention in recent years. Yet our climate change is not a recent problem, it has been happening over many years. The rate of change is accelerating due to the growth of our population. The growth of our population has increased our use of fuel, land and manufacturing. All of these are increasing emissions into our atmosphere that increases global warming.
The purpose of this research is to promote environmental awareness of the consumers through eco-friendly products. According to Environmental Awareness and environmentally friendly behavior-case Sulkava Rowing Event by Anja Tuohino, during the past few decades, concern for the environment has increased significantly and, at the same time, people’s values and attitude towards nature have changed substantially.
PAPEMELROTI is a craft and gift shop that uses recycled materials on their product and support eco-friendly activities. PAPEMELROTI started on November, 1976. It is the combination of the first syllables of five names - Patsy, Peggy, Meldy, Robert, and Tina. They are the children of Benny and Corit Alejandro, who started the PAPEMELROTI business.
The family planned to open a new shop in Ali Mall, Cubao. Since Korben came from a combination of Corit’s & Benny’s names, it became a family joke to name the new shop after the 5 Alejandro siblings - Patsy, Peggy, Meldy, Robert and Tina. When they couldn’t think of a better name, they finally decided to give the shop the tongue twister name - PAPEMELROTI.
Today, PAPEMELROTI has evolved into a chain of gift shops that has touched countless lives through its unique product lines. Patsy, Peggy, Meldy, Robert and Tina continue to design

This refers to the recent rise of Scientists are estimating a 2 to 11 degree increase of the Earth’s average surface temperature due to greenhouse gases over the next one hundred years. Global Warming is a serious problem, and it should be taken very seriously. Unless we take action now, we will have major consequences to deal with later on. These include, but are certainly not limited to, extreme weather, a decline in polar life, and effects on human health.
