World urbanisation

Nowadays, the issue of urbanization is more frequently discussed than ever before due to its increasing impacts on lives and on the environment. There is a rapid migration of rural people to urban areas for jobs and better living. As a result the population in the towns and cities are increasing and rural population is dwindling. The rapid in rush of people to the urban areas is pressuring its limited space and cause all type of health and environmental hazards.

There are a lot of advantages of living in the city. First of all, people get easier access to medical care, jobs and education. There are a wide range of professions choice. Town people can really enjoy all the new advancements of science and technology. Therefore, city citizens have more opportunities to succeed in life and career. In addition to this, there is a better chance to meet friends due to a great number of cultural events, concerts and exhibitions in cities. Another advantage of urbanisation is improvement in Science, Culture etc.: Urban places are the meeting point of all good cultures of various localities. Education, science and technology developments take place in urban places improving the society as a whole.

On the other hand, urbanisation can also create problems. The critics of urbanization argue that as too many people move to major cities in recent years, there is greater competition for jobs. This means only people with greatest ability can remain staying in these cities. Often they have to work the jobs that they have to exert themselves so hard, such as the works in construction sites, and are often in dangers which can cause death to them. Futhermore, when younger people leave to earn more money, many older, weaker and disadvantaged workers are left behind in the rural communities. What's more, there are a lot of ecological problems caused by urbanization, such as poor air quality, waste disposal problems and water quality problems. For some people it's just not sustainable lifestyle!

To my mind, in the future people will move to countryside. Thanks to development of science and technology, nowadays many people can try distance working. What's more, people become more aware about most alarming enviroment problems. This may encourage people to leave city for more healthier countryside.

To sum up, i believe the choice between city and countryside is matter of taste. Some people just can't imagine their lifes without modern busy city life, while others dream about peace and quite of the countryside. Personally, i can't imagine myself living in the rural area! For me, advantages of living in the city definitely outweight disadvantages.
