The year was 2001 the day was September eleventh. Most New Yorkers were heading off to start there day oblivious of the fact that soon two airplanes would crash into the world trade center. The thunderous sound and the resulting eclipse of smoke and debris obliterated the usual smog and noise of the big apple. 9/11 changed more than just the New York skyline, it forever changed the way we traveled by commercial airplane .
Lets look at travel in prior to 9/11 and how simple it was. In those days you went to the airport, stood in line, hopped onto the flight on boarding call, sat down at your seat, and could literally file your nails drink a big gulp you brought along for the ride, and applying some lotion to your dry arms. However, those days are long behind us as air travel is now absolutely nothing like it was before the events of 9/11.
What was once only a somewhat annoying tedious mess of a system has now been compounded into an annoying, tedious and intrusive complete disaster of travel. Flying to a destination for a vacation used to be an exciting idea to many Americans. It was a chance to get away from the every day. Many Americans felt flying was pleasurable at some point feeling that sense of excitement as they rushed to the airport to be onboard an hour prior to boarding.
These days if you don’t get in line for the two hours prior to boarding call you will definitely miss your flight. International flights are even worse. A passenger has to file in three hours before take off, stand in line forever get through a metal detector be screened by a machine that sees through your clothing or choose to be felt up by an under paid security guard who is obviously not having a good day. make sure you have no wholes in your socks as you will be removing your shoes so they can be run through an x ray machine. Just try to bring that big gulp through now and see how far you get .... [continues]
