What is culture? The “(2012) website http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/culture, culture is defined as “the behaviors and beliefs characteristics of a particular social, ethnic, or age group”.   The major components of culture are attitudes, beliefs, customs, traditions, art, clothing, food, language, and achievements that are passed on to each generation.   What is art? The “(2012) website http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/art ,art is defined as “ the quality production, expression, or realm according to aesthetic principles, than ordinary significance.
Visual arts can be anything that you can see, such as ceramics, drawings, paintings, sculpture, and printmaking.   The “(2012) website http://www.thefreedictionary.com/music defines music when it comes to art as “the art of arranging sounds in time, so as to produce a continuous, unified, and evocative composition, as through melody, harmony rhythm and timbre.   The “(2012) website http://www.answers.com/topic/architecture defines architecture when it comes to arts as “the art and science of designing and erecting buildings. The “(2012) website http://www.answers.com/topic/literature , defines literature when it comes to art as “the body of written works of a language, period, or culture.   I believe that culture and arts go hand in hand, especially when it comes to visual arts, for example, the Martin Luther King Jr, statue was just built in Washington D.C., to me that is a part of our culture, and art.
The role of an artist is to express themselves in various forms.   The music of rap artists has a negative influence in today’s culture, especially when it comes to the younger generation.   They listen to the music about violence, sex, drugs, and they look up to that person, instead of someone in their family who are successful. I personally do not listen to rap because of the negative vibes that it gives off.... [continues]
