Problem Statement
Corporations are challenged in hiring competent leaders today because of a shortage of qualified talent. Literature suggests this phenomenon impacts the organizations ability to emerge from the current economic crisis (Knighton & Krupp, 2009, pg. 21.). This is a chronic problem in the workplace. Furthermore, research studies suggest, “60% of companies are facing shortages of leadership talent that is impeding their performance” and yet in 2009, companies spent over 12M dollars on training and development ( Ashford & DeRue,2010). Consequently, this phenomenon suggests in the context of new and improved leadership, reveals that there is need for training and re-training of current leaders (Prokopeak, 2010). This qualitative study seeks to extend existing studies on people of color emergence above the corporate ceiling. The objective is to explore the leadership systems to understand how diversity leadership development aligns with other management practices and competences associated with multiculturalism. The purpose of this qualitative study describes the need to understand why the current leadership and development programs in most companies are not sufficient in creating beneficial outcomes. This study is significant because this reflects the continuation of minimization of the advancement of women of color and creates the perception that nothing has changed in the effort of adding the diversity component in the workplace. Consequently, this phenomenon has increased the historical gap in employment, resulted in the displacement of millions of Americans workers.

Significance of Study
An additional objective of this case study analysis is to explore trending gaps in diversity initiatives that involve costs, and the eradication of various embedded issues such as problems related to global relationships and domestic demographic changes. This study is significant because current shifts in employment and unemployment suggest a new paradigm that mirrors the survival of the human race as we know it. This study is significant because it will provide a better understanding for decision-making by leaders and their needs assessments while applying various approaches to leadership. It is important because the literature describes diversity as a unique form of leadership with a strong...
