Words Can Change Minds
People can change lives and lives can change people. When someone inspires another person or makes a huge impact on them, that impact may last a lifetime. My counselor from a summer bible camp made a huge impact on my life that will never go away. I’m truly grateful for her because in fourth grade, I started to wander away from Christ but she pulled me aside and had a “One-On-One” talk. “One-On-One” talks are private conversations with another person. Now, because of my counselor, I’ve become closer to the Lord and have been attending a youth group on Fridays.
When I first met Samantha, I was in fifth grade. We met in a summer camp the taught kids about Christianity. She was a staff member and one of my counselors in my group, the CTX, a group of sixth and seventh graders. About three weeks into camp, she took me on a One-On-One. During those minutes, she talked about her walk with Christianity. I started to realize that her life wasn’t all-smiles but that she has a hard time connecting with her family because she is the only one that is a Christian. When I asked her how could she stay so bright even in the state that she was in, she said this: “Even through hard times, the Lord will always be by my side and in return, I should trust in Him because he has a plan for me.” (Samantha Wong, 2013) I kept that saying in my notes and I still have it to give me motivation through hardships.
Samantha is someone that cannot be forgotten. She has a personality that can't be kept down. She is really close to me not only because she made a huge impact on me, but also that she's been a really good friend. She puts others before herself, does tons of community service, and is a huge help to MBC. Volleyball is also what bonds us together. Before youth group on Fridays, we usually play some volleyball sometimes with other kids that come early. Actually, we first met in a volleyball club but we didn't
