Level 6 Have you ever heard about dentistry and all the things related to dentistry? Well, according to Wikipedia “Dentistry is the known evaluation diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases and conditions related to human mouth”. Dentistry is considered necessary to complete all human health. People who study dentistry are usually called dentists. This field has to do with tissues of the jaw (mandible), the oral cavity, maxillofacial area and some parts in the face that are strongly associated with the body. According to an aunt that I interviewed, it is really nice to be a dentist. You have to be ready for it, but once you are working in what you like, it is awesome and you really enjoy it. Sonia Rivas who is a dentist says that she really enjoys working as a dentist. She likes to work with kids and with all kinds of people.” If you ever want to become a dentist, you should be a very responsible person, a sociable person, and just be focused on what you really want” Dr. Sonia Rivas said. According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, most dentists usually complete at least 8 years of education beyond high school. Based on the information in this book, dentistry studies begin with classroom instruction and laboratory work in basic sciences, including anatomy, microbiology and physiology. After you get through all this education, you will be able o work as a dentist and start your own business if you want to. The Occupational Outlook Handbook says that the average annual earnings of salaried dentists were $123, 210 in 2002. Dentists are earning up to $250,000 Euros per year in Europe. Earnings vary according to the numbers of years in practice and, location hours worked that a dentist may have. Personally, I think that dentistry requires a lot of dexterity and knowledge about science.
