Women entrepreneurs have made extraordinary progress, but they still have much to learn

My presentation is inspired by a book I read at the begining of this year, wrote by Gail Evans. The name of the book is „Play like a man, win like a woman” and it’s a practical guide for business women who must develop their business and approach success in domains dominated mostly by men. Love the game, with these words Gail Evans concludes one of the most successful and influential books about women in the business world.
Gail Evans began working at CNN at its inception in 1980. By the time she retired, 21 years later, she was its Executive Vice President. During that time, she was responsible for program and talent development at all CNN's domestic networks overseeing national and international talk shows and the Network Guest Bookings Department, which schedules about 25,000 guests each year.
The most interesting part of the book which is related to my topic is chapter 6, „Five things men are allowed to do at the workplace and women aren’t”. Evans sais that women must pay a lot of attentions to these apparently small things, because they have the potential to ruin a business meeting or even an entire business deal.
The firs one is men can cry in a tensioned or emotional situation, women cannot. In the business world a man crying once is seen as revealing his human, emotional part. If a woman does the same thing she is seen as weak, nevrotic and emotional unstable even if the circumstances are the same in the two situations.
The second one is men can have love affairs at the workplace, women cannot. The explanation is simple, people still think that women are trying to improve their professional status by using their sexuality to get where they want. Such a person will lose the respect she has in the eyes of the business parteners, superiors or colleagues.
The third thing women are not allow to do is get angry and agressive. An angry woman will be seen as out

    Ever since women were given suffrage and more generally equal rights, there has been a rise of women in the common work places. Unfortunately, much of the business and high power corporations within the United States are under a patriarchy and women don’t get much of the power and pay as men do. Furthermore, women in the workplace just become “eye candy” or even objects of sexual fantasies for the men who hire them or for the men who work with or around them.     Men cry less frequently and deeply than women, women tend to cry mostly over anger. In this article, there was a research done on British adolescents showing crying from sadness and anger moderated by gender. It was reported that both genders were more likely to cry from sadness than anger. In the report it showed boys cry less than girl from both emotions. In girls anger intensity was a significant predictor but in boys depression was stronger than it was in girls. Due to the less crying of men, women tend to wonder why men don’t cry like they do. In my experience out of the three and half years I’ve been with my fiancée I’ve only scene him cry once. Men tend to not show emotions in other cases it may show how masculine they are. To me when men were young it seems like they had no problem crying over something but when they hit puberty and the hormones started flowing they had to be more manly and show no emotions. Men tend to only cry when there is something tragic that has happened to them, like a horrible loss or something more obscured. Women just tend to cry more than men it is unknown why we do maybe were just more emotional than men or something other than this. No one will understand why men and women are the way they are, I guess that’s what makes us all unique in our own ways. The investigators do believe there should be future studies done focusing on emotion specifically on crying and the measures of frequency and intensity of the emotion.…
