Introduction
      When you think of witches, witchcraft, magic, and things of that nature, the first thought through your mind is probably bogus or doesn’t exist. If this is true then all the hundreds of thousands of people throughout history and even today are practicing something that isn’t real. The real question here is how do we know it doesn’t exist. Are we 100% sure that there is no such thing as magic or witchcraft. I know that we are taught when we are younger that such things aren’t real, but still, how do we know for sure? The only way we can find out for ourselves is to conduct some research. This also raises another question, when did witchcraft and magic come about or originate? In other words, when did magic and witchcraft originate, and is there any evidence to support its existence?

I. When exactly did magic and witchcraft originate?
  A. Did magic and witchcraft exist before the birth of Christ?
    Magic and witchcraft did in fact exist before the birth of Christ.   Documentation exists of magic and witchcraft being used and performed in ancient Greece.   In ancient Greece the gods or goddesses use witchcraft and magic.   Some of the great scholars in Greece worked as sorcerers.   Pythagoras, the mathematician, openly practiced philosophy, science, and magic.   He had a strong influence on Plato.   Plato was not a sorcerer, but yet he was a believer.   One can also see in the Dialogues of Aristotle that he (Aristotle) suggested the influence of the magical theory.   Neither Aristotle nor Pluto feared the magicians, though many people did.   Evidently the two understood what the sorcerers were doing.   Some of these sorcerers were priests or priestesses.   The best known priestesses were those of the Oracle of Delphi.   They dedicated their lives to the gods and practical prophecy and divination.   The priest or priestesses would sit over a cleft or hole in the rocks.   Out of those holes would raise smoke or fumes of drugs that would envelop their...
