In the past, people had to write a letter to communicate with each other and they sent it by pigeon post or messenger. Some of people wanted to make it easier. Therefore, they made some inventions such as telegraph, radio, telephone, and the newest is mobile phone. A mobile phone is a basic phone that is used for the basic purpose, making calls and receiving calls. They had a number pad, a digital phone book and a pick-up or hang-up button and not much more. However, with the increasing technology and offerings in a phone, smartphones were released and were in use worldwide. The phone can check my emails, go to the webs, check the weathers and everything that you do with your regular computer. The One has only two hardware buttons on the front of the handset: a back button and a Home button. HTC has eliminated the menu button, which other Android handsets use to bring up a variety of settings or options within applications. HTC hopes that this will be less confusing for consumers, but I can see this being more confusing for seasoned Android users who are used to navigating the interface with three buttons. Heck, I had a difficult time with the adjustment—I kept accidentally hitting the HTC logo to get to the home screen. Also, apps that require the menu key use the lower part of the screen for a virtual menu button, which completely negates the purpose of having hardware buttons in the first place. It feels like HTC is attempting to do good by starting a two-button trend, but because Google hasn't standardized it across Android handsets, it’s mostly a minor annoyance.…

Abstract - There are times during the examination of CDMA cell phones where the available phone forensics tools do not allow the forensic examiner/analyst to extract the data they need from the device. At other times, the available tools may allow the forensic examiner/analyst to extract the full file system of a CDMA phone, but data contained in the file system is encoded in a proprietary manner and cannot be decoded using forensic tools such as EnCase or FTK. Additionally, there are a number of situations that might preclude a forensic examiner/analyst from using a camera to document the data on a phone, such as when the phone’s LCD screen is broken, the phone itself is broken, or the forensic examiner/analyst wishes to avoid physical manipulation of the phone to the extent possible during the examination. The CDMA Fraternal Clone method will allow the forensic examiner/analyst to transfer all user-created files and current settings from one CDMA phone into another phone, so that the target phone (CDMA Fraternal Clone) can be examined. The CDMA Fraternal Clone is used as a means to view the user created data and settings from the original phone in their native format allowing the forensic examiner/analyst to view and work with the extracted data in a way that emulates the original phone. Part 1. Introduction Ponemon Institute is pleased to present the findings of the Smartphone Security Survey: A Study of U.S. Consumers sponsored by AVG Technologies. The goal of the research is to determine consumers’ perceptions about the potential privacy and security risks when using their smartphones. In addition, we wanted to learn if participants in our study care about these risks and if they take security precautions. We surveyed 734 consumers who are 18 years and older and own a smartphone. The risks that we address in our survey concern location tracking, transmission of confidential payment without the user’s knowledge or consent, diallerware (specialized malware unique to smartphones), spyware, viruses from insecure WiFi networks and others. What we learned is that most of the consumers in our study are using their smartphones without understanding that they are exposing their sensitive information to the risks listed above. We also believe the findings of this study signal a potential security risk for organizations because so many consumers surveyed use their smartphones for both business and personal use. With business confidential information stored on these smartphones, organizations should make sure employees and contractors take appropriate precautions to secure such sensitive information. We also recommend that security policies state these precautions and ensure they are enforced. Following are the most salient research highlights:  Eighty-four percent use the same smartphone for both business and personal purposes. The cross over of business and personal usage means much more sensitive and confidential data is at risk and suggests that the smartphone is with them most…

I use my smart phone for English to store in my notes that I need to remember. There is an icon in my phone that will let me save my notes which is really useful. I would also store in my homework assignments or other important things in my phone to remind myself what needs to be done and when it is due. Sometimes, I would take pictures of pages that are assigned to me when I do not have a copy of the book. I can also take pictures of notes that are written on the white board and store them into my photos to look at later. Moreover, I have a dictionary app to define words that I come across when doing an assignment for class. It is quick and easy to just pull out my phone from my purse or pocket and store any information that I need to overlook later in my day. It is great to have a smart phone because sometimes I cannot reach a computer to search an article and so I would use my Google search engine on my device. It is quick and easy to use just like a regular computer. I also have an app on my phone that will let me print my papers and assignments straight from my phone to a printer nearby. Kindle is also an app that I love on my smart phone because I can read books while I am on the go. I can purchase books straight from Amazon and it will store into my…
