Mahatma Gandhi once said, “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” Nevertheless, if we reflect about how stellar our society is, the answer will not be satisfactory because animals receive awful and unthinkable treatment. The Constitution of India imposes a duty on every citizen ‘to protect and improve the natural environment including forests, lakes, rivers, and wildlife’.The Department of Environment was established in India in 1980 to ensure this cause. The extinction of animals in today’s society is one of the large problemsfaced by us in todays enviroment. Wildlife conservation programs have been working hard to save many different species from extinction. All wild animals must have food, water, and shelter in order to survive, just like humans. Pollution, poaching, and the destruction of habitats can serve as the main purpose why many animals are now on the verge of extinction. In response the Indian govt has formulated some policies to safeguard wildlife like the Wildlife Protection Act which provides for the protection of wild animals, birds and plants and Project Tiger to mainly safeguard population of Bengal tigers in their natural environment; Thanks to our govt. Project Tiger helped to increase the population of these tigers from 1,200 to 3,500 When you hear, "Wildlife", what do you think of? A grassy field with thirty deer, or an open plain with elephants, zebras, and giraffes? This is what would spring to mind for most people as soon as they hear the term "wildlife", What most people don't realize, is that no matter how deep into the city you live, or whether you live in the rural areas, it doesn't matter, you are still a vital part of nature. Why, even in cities there are still some animals such as squirrels and birds. Let me inform you of some of the things that we can to do to protect wildlife The greatest threat faced by many animals is the destruction of their homes....
