Why schools should keep uniforms:
We’ve all seen the tragic headlines screaming of the death of a teenager who was killed for a pair of fancy shoes or jewelry or a designer jacket .These are some of the news headlines from other countries where school uniforms are not used or not used properly. In America (Los Angeles) a 15-year old boy was shot in school for his $86 pair of Nike Basketball shoes. Just this past December in Oxon Hill, Maryland, a 17-year old honor student was killed at a bus stop, caught in the cross fire during the robbery of another students designer jacket. School uniforms are a major point of discussion in public schools today in countries such as the U.S.A and yet our education department doesn’t seem have a problem with the idea of scrapping school uniforms. School uniforms greatly benefit both the students and faculty by creating an atmosphere in which the students are able to get the most out of their education. It encourages more concentration on student’s studies than on their daily outfit and also gives a sense of security in the school. Uniforms also contribute to keeping order, discipline and neatness in schools, without uniforms most of the South African schools would be a mess. It is also cheaper in buying school uniforms, because with casual clothes you would want to wear something different each day. There for you would be spending a lot of money in buying more clothes. An advantage of warring uniforms is that they are all the same so you don’t have to be self-conscious on what other people would think of you, if you don’t match up to the same dress code as them My last and final reason for believing in school uniforms is that they will keep the students safer. If all students are dressed identically, a trespasser will be easy to identify. If there is a stranger on the school property, it is important that he or she is found.
