Legalizing Marijuana
Cindy a young cancer patient is in pain and agony. The only way to make the pain stop is to smoke marijuana. As she takes a drag the slowly feels the pain inch away. Now you tell me why only United States residents in California should have this beneficial medicanal use for marijuana. Dont you think other sick Americans like Cindy should be able obtain the same type of treatment? Ganja, pot, bud, tree, nug. and herb are just some of the commonly words used today for a drug that needs to be legalized, you may know it as marijuana. As one of the most used drugs in America you might look back and ask yourself why is this drug even illegal in the United States today. Reading further could open your eyes and then you might finally see the truth, or the complete opposite. Ill let you decide that for yourself.
In 1930 a man by the name of Harry J. Anslinger who literally declared a full on war on marijuana before having any scientific tests or studies were conducted to prove his theories against marijuana he went on and decided to attack this harmless drug.(Grass 0:53) He then began to recruit states on this war which nearly non had agreed on and when i say none were looking at three states.(Grass 0:56) That was until 1936, the propaganda film "Reefer Madness" was made in attempt to scare teens away from smoking marijuana.(Grass 0:60) Wait just a second? Your saying a man with no scientific studies or proof that this "Drug" was actually harmful or dangerous had started lieing to America? In fact yes he did. This film had lied to the nation saying pot makes you legally insane and also changes ones personality when in fact it does not. After the release of this film the many lied to states and peoples of our nation had suddenly turned their backs to any scientific study and went on and listened to this madness. Many states after had joined this war one by one supporting Harry J. Anslinger on the war on marijuana.
