Why had international peace collapsed by 1939
There were important long-term factors that help to explain why war broke out in 1939. One factor was the Versailles Treaty. It was important because this not only helped Hitler to gain trust for his people, but it also helped to justify things Hitler did. Treaty of Versailles made Britain sympathize with Germany. The resentment caused by the Treaty made Hitler rise to power and prepare for a war. One of the reasons why Appeasement was approved was because some people thought the Treaty of Versailles was unfair, therefore allowing the Appeasement to change certain parts of Treaty.
The failure of the League of Nations in the 1930s also contributed towards the outbreak of war. This was because League of Nation couldn’t actually solve or have control over things that were happening. So they could not stop any actual conflicts, but made Hitler bolder.
