A gun is a weapon. It is a tool that was designed to kill. The phrase "Guns don't kill people, people kill people" is perfect for what I'm talking about. If someone has a bumper sticker that says, "Guns kill people," they might as well have another sticker that says, "stuffed animals kill people." The two are similar because both are saying that inanimate objects kill people. As we all know, this is false. The person who is wielding the gun is the one responsible, not the gun. Inanimate objects cannot kill.
It was a late summer evening in Aurora, Colorado. Batman fans were filing into the theatre rooms for the midnight premier of The Dark Night Rises. Everyone was excited to see the brand new motion picture, and there was no fear in anyone's mind. But all that changed in the blink of an eye. Shortly after the movie began, in one of the theatre rooms, a man started shooting into the audience. This was a shock to everyone in the theatre because it is known that firearms are not permitted there. However, this did not stop the shooter. So, does gun control really work? Is gun control going to somehow stop a mentally ill human from taking lives with a firearm? The answer is no. Gun control is nothing more than wishful thinking. It is not a force that will physically stop someone from carrying a concealed weapon. It is not a force that will save someone from an armed robbery. It is not a force that will protect innocent lives. It is just wishful thinking.
