Honeybees, which are responsible for pollinating most of the foods we eat, like honey, oil and fruits. However, large amounts of honeybees are disappearing in recent years. According to survey, scientists found different viruses in dead bees, the guts of bees appeared pathological changes as well. This phenomenon indicates that their immune system once tried to form strong immunity, but they failed. From the perspective of spiritual ecology, five main categories stand in the foreground of the disappearing honeybee issue: Population expansion; Influence of pesticide; IAPV; Parasites; Malnutrition. Population expansion
As a result of population expansion, the demand of food is growing. The survival of bees is threatened. One way to prevent the bees from dying is to reduce the damage of our environment. No matter in country or city, bees can survive without sorrow and anxiety. Influences of pesticides
One of the beekeepers said that he never took his bees to Florida, because there were different kinds of pesticides on the oranges. These pesticides are used to discourage injurious insect from mating. Public Library of Science published an article. It said that they collected much pollen and beeswax from 23 states in USA, 60 percent contained at least one pesticide and they found 121 pesticides from the 887 samples. None of the pesticides could kill the bees, but the mixture has strong lethality. IAPV
IAPV (Israeli acute paralysis virus) has relationship with colony collapse disorder. The American scientists used the genomics and discovered that the percentage of the IAPV’s existence in the group which were infected CCD was about 83.3. However, in non-infected group was about 1 percent. This virus may cause the wings of bees to tremble, palsy and finally die outside the honeycomb. Parasites
Varroa mite, a deadly parasite that breeds in honeycomb all the life time. It is just parasitic on bee...
