Edward Albee was initially born with the name of Edward Harvey in 1928 and was abandoned. He was adopted 18 days after birth. His new family, the “Albees”, raised Edward with great wealth and had a family who based their funding off business. Edward grew up in an environment where business was praised heavily in contrast to his birth parents that were allegedly “conservative”. Edward often had a hard time in the private & military schools he attended and eventually studied in Trinity College where he must depart from his adoptive family by the late 1940s. Albee worked in numerous amounts of jobs and was fortunate enough to have a wealthy family while he grew up therefore, he took advantage and wrote in various of techniques and styles. By the 1950s, Albee had a writing mentor and musically talented named William Flanganan who faced alcoholism heavily.
