Who I Am Speech
Now, you know my name is ******, you know I’m a girl, you know I’m a student, obvious things. But I’m going to go into a little more depth and tell you about myself, and just a few of my favorite things.
So, it’s Tuesday night, and I am running around the house like a maniac. I constantly check the time every five seconds. I grab my unicorn pillow pet and make a mad dash for the couch. It’s 8:00 when I plop down and turn the TV to channel 5. My absolute favorite television show, NCIS, starts. I am pretty much an obsessive, addicted, squealing fan of NCIS. My dad usually comes in and asks if it’s a new episode. I say yes, and he usually joins me.
My dad is a big part of my life. He has always been there for me, pushing me to do my best even if I could get by without trying. As a child, my dad forced my sister and I to read books during the summer and then write a report on the book we read. This is the reason I also have a hobby of reading. He also made us wake up super early in the morning to go on a bike ride, or a run, or something like that. My dad and I have a very close relationship and I know I can talk to him about anything, no matter what.
“I’m on your six boss” usually said by DiNozzo, is one of my favorite phrases in NCIS. I love that phrase because it basically means I have your back. Knowing that someone has my back is really important to me. My friends are a huge part of my life, and I’m kind of picky when it comes to them. My best friend’s name is Brittany, and she is going to be a junior at Aurora Central Catholic, just like I am. I have known her only since 8th grade, but when I met her, she instantly became my best friend because we were so alike. We liked the same things, like reading, volleyball and track, and she has always had my back, whether it was taking the blame for having the idea to ride our bikes to the seven eleven at 1:00 am to get slushies, or even taking the blame when I forgot to take the pizza out of the oven at her house,

My dad has taught and encouraged me to try new things. He encouraged me to go out for cross country my eighth and i ended up liking it alot. He also encouraged me to try some foods that i've never had. They ended up being really tasty. What makes him so encouraging is that he doesn't force me to do it. He also kinda cons me in with his corny word choice. This is one reason why my…

One of the reasons that my dad is my hero is because when I had to go to the emergency room for my back he never left my side. He was the one that was willing to take me. He knew that I was in a lot of pain by the look on my face. When we got there he went in and had gotten me a wheel chair because I could not walk. Even though my back was fine, I felt better that he was there with me.…

When I was young, my dad would often put me into hard and realistic scenarios to put myself to the test. This would often frustrate me because I thought it was a waste of time and unnecessary. In my elementary years, he would often give me extra problems, in addition to my homework, and made sure…

My Mom is a big part of my life not only for her great cooking but also the time that she will take to help me with homework when I need it. My dad on the other hand, has always been the greatest. My dad always loved being in the outdoors with me and my brother since we were very little. He still enjoys throwing us pitches in the batting cage just for fun or before our baseball games. He also taught me how to hunt which is now one of my favorite activities to do. My Dad has taught me to work hard at everything I do either playing ball or by doing a job for someone. I am very grateful to him that he raised me that way.…

Growing up, I was always a daddy’s girl. Then, I began to transition to relying on my mother more than father when I started to notice my dad’s absents. Due to away from home military work, my dad missed many milestones in my life like my first leading role play, the first time a rode a bike, and my middle school graduation. Eventually, I realized that my dad was sacrificing his time with his family and risking his life helping make a bigger difference in the world. I learned from the stress, prayers, and fear for my dad that I have to cherish every moment with the people I love. I view my dad as the definition of resilience. I cannot try to explain what my dad went through during his time overseas but he returned to his same ole’ happy, goofy self. My dad taught me that I need to be an independent woman and never to depend on anyone for my success. I will make my dad proud by becoming that educated, independent women, he hopes me to be.…

When asked to make a short speech on my dad, my first thoughts were “NOOOOOOOO I do not want to do this!!!” But after I thought about things to talk about, it actually turned out that I had to choose what not to talk about! How has my dad shaped my view of life? It is hard to pinpoint exactly. I know I have learned a lot from him: the best ways to save money on groceries, the value of gift cards in everyday life, how to relax and joke and be the comedic relief (not that I use that lesson very often, unfortunately), how to separate work and home and truly enjoy being at home (another lesson I need to put into practice more often), and so much more.…

    Why I admire my dad

Secondly, another reason why I admire my dad is his ability to admit his wrongs very easily and try to get others to balance him out. If my dad is unable to do something, he will let you know then and there, giving you enough time to make arrangements. People always say that it takes a man to admit wrong and since my dad is very good at doing this, I admire and respect him tremendously. Also, since he is very adamant on staying true to these values, he has always tried and instill these values into me, and for that reason I am thankful and appreciative as not everyone gets guidance like this.…
