In the article The Path to Corporate Responsibility, they highlight the fact that companies these days have to take greater responsibilities for not only their actions domestically, but also internationally. The article specifically mentions Nike and the more than unfavorable working conditions in its supply chain. Nike at first took a defensive position against the allegations, but soon established managerial and strategic mindsets to better rectify the situation. I believe that this wasn’t an issue Nike could just brush under the table. They did an excellent job of specifically identifying the issues and methodically made vast improvements to right the wrong that it was allowing to occur in its sweatshops across the world. Nike was and is still one of the most recognized companies worldwide. With this huge brand recognition comes great responsibility to be accountable for each and every action of the company. This responsibility isn’t just limited to major companies, but it is the responsibility of all companies to be aware of what is taking place within their organizations and to make sure that all moral obligations are being met. Companies do not need to follow Nike’s approach to “Just Do It”, but rather need to adhere to the slogan “Just Do It Right”.
