Friendship is the relationship between two or many friends. With various friends arises friendship. There are good friends and bad friends. In this paper we are using good friends to clearly describe a friend. So the major question is what is a friend?
A friend is someone in your life you are familiar with, know him/her quite well and is one you regard with love and trust. A friend does not necessarily have to be a person. He can be a pet in your life for example a dog. There is also the saying that a dog is man's best friend so a friend can also be your pet at home. There are people who are just friends and others are best friends. For one to be regarded as a best friend he or she is someone you can put your complete trust in and one you always run to when something is disturbing you or when trouble arises. This is the individual you best confide with and also share secrets and our most intimate details in our lives.
A friend is someone who is with you in good and bad times, someone who shares your joys and sorrows. This is someone who doesn't run away when you face difficulties and traumas in your life. Anybody can stick by you when things are good and going smoothly but a true friend is the one who sticks by you when things get bad and offers comfort when you are down. He or she is always there for you in times of need.
A friend corrects you when you are in the wrong. He or she gives you good advice when you are lost and confused. This person only wants the best for us and as always very happy when we succeed. A friend also stops us from making a mistake and when making wrong life decisions that he or she foresees will be wrong for is in future.
A friend defends our honor and integrity when it is questioned by others. He sticks to what is true about us and doesn't allow anybody to talk bad of you. Good friends are always by your side and support you when you are in the right track.
