What is Organizational Psychology?
It is essential for contemporary businesses to stay on the cutting edge as a means to ensure a favorable outcome in the continuously evolving and extremely competitive corporate world. Eminent to this success is the application of organizational psychology which target on the human factors of corporations and businesses. The purpose of this paper is to examine the profession of organizational psychology, analyze the evolution in the profession of organizational psychology. This paper will also compare and contrast the different disciplines used in organizational psychology. Furthermore this paper will analyze the role of research and statistics in the field of psychology. According to Jex and Britt (2001), “Organizational psychology is a field that utilizes scientific methodology to better understand the behavior of individuals working in organizational settings” (p.1). The mere explanation is to identify the things that trigger individuals’ in an organizational environment. After understood, the next challenge in organizational psychology is to benefit on the movement of recognizable behavior and focus toward the favorable outcomes of an organization. The purpose of research and statistical information in organizational psychology is critical to the understanding of how an organization functions. Research is achieved in many different ways. For instance, archived data, research, and practiced studies retrieve facts and news about employees for research to gain vital information in an organizational setting (Gantly, 2010). The information that is retrieved through studies is used to conclude applicable data used in organizational psychology.
