“What is Fun?”

Fun: (noun) enjoyment, amusement, or lighthearted pleasure. (Anyone can join in the fun.)
(Adjective) amusing, entertaining, or enjoyable. (That was a fun night.) (Verb) joke or tease. (They were just funning you.) What is fun? Everyone’s idea of fun is different. I am sure that some of the things I consider to be fun, someone else may not. What is fun? Is it fun to parachute out of a plane? For some people it is, while others would not even dream of jumping out unless there was a problem. Personally I would like to try it. It might be fun. What is fun? Is riding a bull fun? For some yes. Some people risk injury just for those eight seconds. They live for the thrill and often get hurt in the process. I personally think that there is something wrong with these people. That is not my idea of fun. What is fun? Is it watching drivers go two hundred miles an hour while making a left turn around a track? On this I say yes. And there are a few million people who will agree with me. Nascar is a sport that has gained in popularity in the past few years. To

me there is nothing better than being at the track and hearing the engines as the cars roar by. But I am sure some people think it’s a total waste of time. What is fun? Is climbing to the summit of Mt. Everest fun? I am sure that the people who brave the elements and risk their lives get some sort of enjoyment from it. I am not sure what that would be, but why else would they do it? For me, this would not be fun. I do not enjoy the cold that much. What is fun? Is watching grown men who get paid to play a game? Millions of fans agree that yes, this is fun. Countless people flock to stadiums and arenas around the world to watch their favorite sports team.
