What Exactly Is Junk Food?
Melina Sarju
Junk Food Being Banned From School Property Junk food, full of calories and have no nutritional value. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, every year more than one sixth of children in America are obese. In the past 20 years obesity rates tripled for children. I, Melina Sarju, think that all schools should banned junk food from school property. Doing this will lower the amount of obese children in America. Schools should sell a healthier lunch with fresh fruits and vegetables every day. Even though some kids don’t like healthy food it is better than McDonalds and Burger King that is full with grease, fat which can clog your arteries. All fast food restaurants might be cheap and delicious but it is not good for your body. Most fast food contains an abundant amount of salt. Salt makes your body retain water which affects your kidneys and bladder. Your body needs very little amount of salt, Salt helps regulate body fluids, transmit nerve impulses and help your muscles contract and relax. Too much sodium can be hard on your kidneys and cause kidney stones. Generally speaking, fast foods tend to be high in fat. Fried foods such as French fries are double bad for you because they contain high levels of saturated and trans-fats. Trans-fats tend to raise your overall blood cholesterol levels. Some research also suggests that trans-fats raise your bad levels of cholesterol, while lowering your good levels of cholesterol. Eating junk food from fast food restaurants is not as healthy as you think it is because of all the salt, grease and fat they use in their food. Too much Tran’s fat and salt is very bad for your body and health. If you only eat junk food once a week you will not be as obese as the people that eat it every day. Try to eat healthy meals with fruits and vegetables instead of a Double Big Mac from McDonalds. ALL JUNK FOOD IS BANNED FROM SCHOOL

Most fast food ingredients contain fattening ingredients: saturated fat, carbohydrates, and more sugar than natural foods that are considered healthy.
