The Media Responds To Us
People naturally look to musicians, artists, actors, athletes, and celebrities as someone to idolize, or see as a heroic figure, because they provide entertainment and their lifestyle seems to be immensely enjoyable. Furthermore, many people want to have the same perks and advantages that come with being a celebrity. Although, heroes who serve our country in the armed forces, police, and fire department do not get the same level of public attention. While they are looked upon as real heroes, their lives are not spotlighted by continuous press and fanfare, and because of the risk factors that come with the job, most would opt for a safer way of life. Unfortunately, soldiers, the people who keep our streets and homes safe, only get recognized in the public on a few holidays during the calendar year, airtime in the news on selective occasions or during war, and parades. The media plays a big part in who becomes a hero and may present someone to the public as a hero, or celebrity, because of his or hers behavior, mistakes, accomplishments, or sacrifices. But ultimately the public makes the final decision in the way we choose to support or ignore this person we would call celebrity, an idol, or hero.

In the society today, each individual forms their own opinion. While we live in a world where everyone is not the same, it is understandable that everyone will have their own point of view. Celebrities such as Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian, who reach a level of fame undeserving of anything they have done and mostly due to gossip publications like TMZ, get so much popularity because of their fans, who support them by watching the television programs they are featured in. Different types of shows are televised to meet the different needs of a viewer.
