Title: Same sex couples and adoption.
Topic: Should same sex couples be allowed to adopt?
Specific purpose: To persuade my audience that same sex couples are capable of raising an adopted child. Thesis statement:
Attention Material: Imagine being a child, living in a foster care for years, being moved around at any given time to strangers.
Preview: I will discuss the many benefits of adoption and why people adopt, then briefly talk about the controversy of same sex adoption issue. Finally explain how making a decision to adopt may change the path of a confused child.
Transition: First let’s talk about the pros and cons of adopting.
In all decisions we make during adulthood we weigh out the good and bad and when the good out weighs the bad the decision is a no brainer. Adoption is much like giving a child a second chance in life. When talking about adoption usually the first thought that comes to mind is cost. Domestic adoption which is when one adopts within the country ranges from $20,000.00 and $60,000.00 and international adoption between $40,000.00 and 60,000.00, however these numbers may be lowered by doing things like adopting an older child or adopting through a foster care system. Many children are in foster care due to unplanned pregnancy, special needs, or abuse/neglect. The child may have developmental delays, behavior modification may be needed as well as educational tutoring, whatever the situation may be the adoptive parent makes the decision on what type of child you can or cannot handle.
There are many benefits in adopting a child.
Not many consider that the birth parent also benefits from adoption. The birth parent gains a sense of security being able to be a part of selecting the child’s birth parents. (visual aid). I.E. In the past on the television show known as Teen Mom had a couple who jointly...
