welcome speech for annual day
Every morning when I put on my Head Girl badge, I am reminded of the responsibility, challenges and leadership I entail. Although Yr 12 is often described as hectic, for me it has been a year of great discoveries. Where I have learnt from positive and negative experiences, learnt about myself and my peers, and gained the acquired knowledge I will need to carry on for the beginning of my adult life. When I think of the Student Council team this year, I see a group of passionate young adults who can work together in making positive changes throughout the school. Their strength, enthusiasm and positivity has been refreshing and assisted us through the years’ hurdles. My experiences at Leeming Senior High School have shaped me into the Year 12 Student I am today and I thank the teachers, students and school for all they have contributed. “Ability is nothing without opportunity” I have been given countless opportunities to enhance my leadership skills and workshop my passion for drama. I have attended various leadership camps such as the Sir Charles Court Leaders Program in 2009 and the Amanda Young Leaders Eco-Summit in 2010. Both these camps not only taught me how to develop my leadership qualities but also bring these skills out into the community, and especially our school. My involvement in the annual school productions, ‘Summer of the Aliens’ in 2009, ‘Ziggy’s Bar - A Cabaret’ in 2010 and this year’s ‘A Dream Deferred’; can be characterised by the words: magical, emotional and at times, life changing. I’ve come to believe the truth is the most valuable gift you can share with other people. Who you are and what you do is priceless. Sharing my experiences and leadership with the rest of LSHS, the class of 2011 and eventually the rest of the world, has and is one of my goals. My stories. My truths. So that we may all come to understand each other a little better. So that we may all find our own definition of what it means to be successful. So that our generation

As a result, homecoming court was a diverse group of individuals ranging from the first chair in orchestra to a special needs child to a founder of an SAT Prep Club. The local news network Herald spotlighted our event, because of the new function of homecoming court, resulting a special needs student who won homecoming king. I believe that my ingenuity to learn from others perspective, and be an open minded individual granted me the opportunity to understand that there was a bigger issue: people felt that the past homecoming court nomination procedure was shallow. At the brink of falling into the abyss, I nearly quitted leadership because of students who became unfavorable of me. However, I chose not to quit because I knew my purpose in serving my community and of being a servant leader. I was bold and took initiative, regardless of any leadership role. I learned doing what is best for my community, school, and institution, was all that mattered, not my social status within a class…

Good evening everyone; teachers, faculty, family, friends, and the Walkerville graduating class of 2008! Wow. This day arrived so quickly – this final high school farewell seemed so distant, but it snuck up on us before we knew it. School is tricky like that; one hour and fifteen minutes can feel as long as “”, while the end of the school year can come around as fast as “Brandon Holland running the 200 meter dash. The other three years went by quickly, but none accelerated as much as this final school year. And what an amazing time it has been, Walkerville – from grade nine to now, the experiences have been unforgettable, and small wonder, considering how incredible this school is and the amazing students that make up this graduating class. There is no other school like Walkerville. it is the best high school in Windsor Essex county. Walkerville is in its own class altogether - When I look at this graduating class, I see a group of outstanding young adults. I see so much respect, acceptance, and just all around an extremely classy group of guys and gals. The talent here, especially in this senior year is phenomenal. This senior student body is made up of simply amazing actors, athletes, artists, dancers, writers, photographers, singers, really smart people, and musicians. But at Walkerville, the talent never stops at one category. To just name a few, athletes take art and dance classes, dancers play bassoon, artists sing, musicians participate in extreme stunts such as the four man piggyback, swimmers play piano, businessmen play broomball, historians write toxic love poems, and if you’re a male dancer, then you’re a hero in general. Moreover, this graduating class is a stellar example of how extraordinary ability can be combined with good character and school spirit. This senior year has constantly shown love for their school, simply by getting involved in any way possible. Helping out at events such as frosh day…

The memorable quote "All gave some...Some gave all" really describes the emotion all of us as Americans should have towards our flag. Memorial Day is a tribute to those who died for our country. We use our flag to honor them by decorating their graves. If that doesn't show the honor that comes along with our flag, nothing…

Chartering and being in charge of a club can be very rewarding, but there can also be a plethora of obstacles that have to be overcome. I am the president of the Best Buddies program – a program that seeks to increase interactions between people with and without special needs – at my high school, and I was the first person in my county to charter this program which was back when I was in the eighth grade. Being the President of this specific club is very challenging and unique: it requires you to work with a wide variety of students – in the mainstream setting and those with special needs – and those students’ parents. From these challenges, I learned the value of persistence and the importance of keeping to your word no matter what life…

Throughout high school I have been blessed with the opportunity to experience positions of leadership. As taking roles as both a follower and a leader in democratic groups such as football, student council, and especially marching band I have learned the significance and dedication of servant-leadership. I am honored to have been given the position to be drum major during my junior and senior so I could strive to enrich the extraordinary experiences music has to offer to fellow peers. Through an attitude of servant-leadership, perseverance and passion I have been privileged. Hence, I dedicated and invested myself in a program that has blessed me with several breath-taking experiences that opened my eyes to a new perspective on the world and on what my destiny holds.…

My experiences and accomplishments have taught me how to become a leader and allowed me to expand and sharpen my skills. To become a leader, I believe one has to be flexible, understanding, do what is best for the club and others despite external opposition, and have the ability to follow through on decisions with unfaltering determination. Operation Smile Club and the off-campus experiences have allowed me to fulfill this belief, and I look forward to playing a proactive role in college and in the years to…

High school has been a very good time for me to develop my leadership skills. Throughout the years that I have spent at Wisconsin Valley, I have become co-editor-in-chief of the school’s yearbook. This position requires me to both assist people in what they are doing and make important decisions on my own. Being co-editor-in-chief has taught me how to deal with people, stress, and last minute changes. Those things are useful in a good leader.…

    Speech On Thanksgiving

    • 270 Words
    • 2 Pages

On Thanksgiving we gather with our family and friends, thinking that we are celebrating everything that we are grateful for and giving thanks to that. We do this by sitting around a large table of smiling faces with a big, hot, succulent, golden brown turkey in the center that went through a horribly miserable death, just to get on our plates in time so we could celebrate our good times through its worst. First, I would like to talk about my own experience. Getting time to spend with my family is one of the greatest traditions, and I am so thankful for that. For having to work long hours and going to school, and everyone else having such a busy schedule. Find that time to have every family member gathers around the table and enjoy a wonderfully…
