In the United States alone, 60 billion dollars are spent on weight loss programs and products every year. One out of three women is on a diet each day, and you will lose five times as much weight than someone who does it alone. Everybody from Jennifer Hudson, to Valarie Bertinelli is endorsing well-known weight loss programs that helped them to lose and keep off the weight. What makes one program different than another? Why is one more successful than another? WeightWatchers and Nutrisystem are leaders in the weight loss industry; they both are been around for decades and boost high success rates. We all know that to lose weight you have to decrease your calorie intake and increase your physical activity, sounds easy right? When the average person makes over 200 food-related decisions every day how do you choose the right program to help you lose weight and give you the knowledge to keep the weight off. Although WeightWatchers and Nutrisystem both have celebrity endorsements and promise you to lose weight and keep it off, each program is significantly different in their approach.

WeightWatchers is celebrating 50 years of business this year; their empire consists of franchising, frozen, packaged, and fresh food products, magazines, and cookbooks, just to name a few. WeightWatchers uses a point system called PointsPlus. Launched in 2010, their system allows their customers to choose the food they want to eat, and since no food is forbidden; you can eat the foods you love while you lose weight.
