The Hindu religion is one of the most spiritual religions in our world. There are many things that make up the Hindu religion such as: rituals, casts and certain social duties, prayer, and fasting are just some of the things. Cultural and societal influences have also helped to shape the Hindu religion, and show the origin of the religion.
An alternative word for the term Hinduism is “Sanatana Dharma.” Sanatana represents the beliefs that the Hindu religion has and it means eternal. The word Dharma encompasses social welfare, duty, health, natural law, ethics, health, and transcendental realization. Dharma is thus a holistic approach to social coherence and the good of all, corresponding to order in the cosmos.
The Hindu religion upholds many major philosophical systems that were developed years ago in India, and they all share certain features. To start, they all have deep roots in Vedas as well as other religious texts. They also direct personal experiences through meditation. Another this is they all hold ethics as the central to orderly social life. And finally they believe that the ultimate cause of suffering is ignorance to ourselves, which is perfect and eternal.
Hindus shares a central theme for their religion, in which the belief is in the ultimate reality called Brahman, and the identification of with the individual soul called Aatman. Brahman is the absolute reality that is formless and infinite; as a result of this their gods have been personified and associated with different attributes. The most worshipped Hindu deities are Shiva, Vishnu and Shakthi.
The Hindu philosophy consists of Nyaya, Vaishseshika, Samkhya, Yoga, Purva Mimamsa, and Uttara Mimamsa. Each of these carry enrich the Hindu religion.
