“African American immigration to the United States may have begun before European exploration of the region. Blacks sailed with Christopher Columbus even on his voyage in the 1482, and the earliest Spanish and Portuguese explorers were likewise accompanied by blacks-Africans who had been ban and reared in Liberia” (History, 2010). African Americans faced prejudice, segregation, and racism. African Americans faced prejudice because a lot of African Americans die not get to go to school like other kids. African American kids had to work in the “fields” and take care of the womanly duties for the slave masters and their families. African Americans were perceived as “low class” and looked at only for agricultural needs African Americans faced racism when they first arrived.... [continues]
