Portfolio Management
A portfolio is a compilation of programs, projects, or operations with components that do not need to related or interdependent—rather they are managed to achieve strategic objectives as a group. Portfolio management is the management at least one portfolio and includes the identification, prioritization, authorization, management, and controlling of the projects or programs related to achieve specific objectives. In simpler terms, a portfolio manager focuses on the success of the strategy put forth by the organization rather than the success of a single project.
Project Management
Project Management focuses on the management and organization of the resources and people in a manner which the planned project is successfully completed correctly and timely. A project can involve one person or more and can take either hours or years for completion. Project Management utilizes required knowledge, skills, and techniques to meet the objectives of a project and stakeholders ' expectations.
Strategic Portfolio and Project Management The project manager is the individual assigned as the leader of a team by the performing organization. Strategic portfolio management is the related invested strategic decisions to help discover methods of meeting or exceeding the objectives. Project management is responsible for the achievement of the project objectives by way of using the tools, knowledge, and skill sets from strategic portfolio management e.g. as data, budget, projects analysis, and essential people.
The project manager can assist a business during the creation and selection of a new project based on the business case knowledge resulting from the excellent business skills and project management skills. The development models for project management offers organizations with a foundation of implement strategic planning
