Due to rapid growth and development of Virtual Reality(VR) applications and their associated hardware, the personal computer(PC) has become a tool of daily-use in this 21st century. By combining PC with VR technology and telecommunication the stage is set for the creation of a new type of ready to-wear PC i.e. Wearable Computers. WHAT IS WEARABLE COMPUTERS ALL ABOUT??
Wearable computers are computers that are worn on the body. This type of wearable technology has been used in behavioural modelling, health monitoring systems, information technologies and media development. Wearable computers are especially useful for applications that require computational support while the user's hands, voice, eyes, arms or attention are actively engaged with the physical environment. "Wearable computing" is an active topic of research, with areas of study including user interface design, augmented reality, pattern recognition, use of wearable for specific applications or disabilities, electronic textiles and fashion design. Many issues are common to the wearable, mobile computing, ambient intelligence and ubiquitous computing research communities, including power management and heat dissipation, software architectures, wireless and personal area networks. * 1991:Started the “wearable computing project” at MIT. * 1995:World’s first convert wearable computer –camera and display concealed in ordinary eyeglasses. * 1997:Phd from MIT in the field Steveman himself had invented. * 2003:Works at University of Toronto.
