Effects of Media Effects of Media

Media is the most powerful tool of communication. Media nowadays is considered a window for learning. It is also considered to be our main window to the world. It gives a real exposure to the mass audience about what is right or wrong.
Media is the mirror of a society. It reflects the true picture of it. Hence, it affects the society in different ways. It has both positive and negative impacts. First I would explain its positive effects on society.
Media is a powerful and effective political agent. It keeps an eye on each and every action of the government. Media also plays a very dynamic role in economic sphere. It attracts the foreign investors by showing government’s projects internationally. It is also a great source of purchasing and selling. People can do their business just sitting at home through internet. It has played important role in social sphere. It has brought the people of the world closer to one another. It changes moods and behaviors of people from conservative to liberal. It has upgraded the living standards through new household styles. It opens new opportunities of success for the youth .It also highlights religious events like Moharam, Eid, Miraj and the Holy Ramadan.
Now, I‘ll discuss the negative effects of media.
Blackmailing by the media persons to get personal gains is one of the negative effects of media. Furthermore sometimes they show one as evil and other as liberator continuously repeating the comments and visuals. Vulgarity is increasing day by day due to inflow of foreign culture. Youth is wasting time due to constant watching the dramas. Some people complained that children nowadays more violent and over open-minded. This is simply the result of bad programs shown on T.V all time, incontrollable websites and even the carelessness of parents. To be free from their children, some people allow the children to surf the webs, without noticing that there are plenty of disasters on Internet.
In conclusion, we have absolutely no control over the media. However, we do have the final decision on the path we choose to take. The extent of the power mass media is able to influence us only reaches this far; the rest is really still within our control.
