Walt Disney was one of the greatest film producers, director, screenwriter, voice actor, entertainer and recognizable global icon from all times, one of the most popular powerful brands around the globe. A pioneer in character animation. He was considered a master storyteller.
He decided to create a full - length animated movie. No one did that before and his brilliant idea changed the whole world.
He founded with his brother a corporation with annual profits of approximately 35 billion U.S. Dollar. He also created Disneyland and the Walt Disney World and continues to be one of the most popular attractions in the world where children and even adults have a lot of fun.
He helped several federal agencies throughout his career. He created training films for the US military, propaganda films urging Americans to pay their taxes, and multiple anti-Hitler shorts meant to boost US morale at home; with this help he left a legacy of helping the nation.
He also produced a series of educational films that were specifically designed to be used for academic purposes within different grade schools then included in the standard curriculum for many classrooms throughout America. Walt Disney tackled more mature topics that also affect young people in regards to biology and sexuality. He started to encourage as many children as he could to appreciate the value of education and stay in school in order to have a better chance at fulfilling their dreams in the future.

By making a 1941 goodwill tour Disney helped the State Department improving relations with South America (featuring a specially made movie entitled Saludos Amigos), and later aided NASA by developing documentaries about the space program.
Other important legacy was the creation of three Oscars awards created specifically for him; one for creating Mickey Mouse, another recognizing his contribution of music in the field of animation, and a specially made prize honoring Snow White and the Seven Dwarves that

Steven Watts infers in his book that Donald related to the American people because “he ultimately seemed a bad tempered, good hearted figure battling life’s injustices and petty annoyances” (p.256). Which were exactly what the American people felt like they were doing. The Disney Corporation branded Donald Duck as a symbol for the American war effort. He was featured in many propaganda shorts that gave reason and understanding for the U.S’s part in the war. Donald Duck was not the only character Disney used to support the war. The military ranging from the Air force, to the Navy, used Disney to create educational films for soldiers. According to Lisa Briner of the Army Heritage and Education Center, the Disney Studios produced over four hundred thousand feet of film which turns out to be over sixty-eight hours of continuous film of either training or propaganda. (www.army.mil) Through creating films, training videos, logos and more, Disney used its brand and abilities to support the war as much as they could. Through the creation of all the propaganda shorts and training films for the military, Disney was able to put out an image of what American life was and what the enemy’s life was. In doing so Disney used ethnic and cultural stereotyping to send the messages they wanted their films to portray. The use of the films was to set boundaries between the nations and their cultures. They used extreme portrayals, patriotism, and nationalism to show an idea of us and them. Through creating the barriers Americans gained a skewed and biased sense of what the war was about, and who they were fighting.
