M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E, Mickey Mouse! This famous song and dance was created by the legendary entrepreneur, Walt Disney. Walt was much more than just a creator of the famous cartoon character of Mickey Mouse; he was a film producer, a screenwriter, an actor, director and animator. His creations of cartoons and films had exploded him to be an international icon.
This man introduced the world to creative film producing of the cartoon industry. He introduced the first animated film to feature synchronized sound, Steamboat Willie, in 1928. In 1937 Walt released the first feature length animated movie to be produced in Technicolor, Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs. Walt Disney took cartoons to a new level, introducing color, sound, full length animation.
Walt became successful because he had a dream, a dream to reach out to others with laughter and hope. In Walt’s early career of cartoon design, he had failed many times, but never lost sight of what his true passion was, a leader of the entertainment industry. Walt lived by several rules which made his life a success. One of Walt’s first rules was provide a promise, not a product. Walt had worked on his animations several times until he found one the public approved of, Mickey Mouse. Another rule Walt lived by to further his success is pursue your passion and money will follow. Walt never had a lot of money. He just had a few drawing tools and a vision. By following through with what little he had, it turned around to be a cash machine.
However, Walt’s lead by example and delegate was one of his biggest reasons for success. He was an example to all he employed by the creation of Mickey Mouse and providing a voice for him as well as many other characters that came from Disney Inc. He then went on to hire people who felt his same compassion and delegated them to lead his company by introducing new characters and ideas.
