Abstract
This paper is an analysis of Wal-Mart, one of the largest retail stores in the United States and its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the company.   The areas that will be covered is how the following strategy will cover the internal and external corporate level of staying on top in the retail business industry by utilizing its strengths, through leadership, distribution and logistics of its products, and maintaining competitive prices.   Second, Wal-Mart maintains its position by locating the weaknesses in inventory and employee treatment.   Third, opportunity is covered through both global and domestic marketplace.   Last, the analysis will cover the area where threats lay in the external part of the company with competition, economic recession, and theft.

Wal-Mart, the supermarket that everyone knows, is a juggernaut in its industry and has sustained success after 50 years in business.   According to the Wal-Mart website, “Wal-Mart operates more than 10,300 stores in 27 countries around the world.   For the year ending, January, 31, 2012, Wal-Mart increased its sales by 5.9% to $443.9 billion dollars and returned $11.3 billion dollars to shareholders through dividend and share purchases.”  The analysis will cover Wal-Mart principal sources and its analyses for a strategy of continued success through its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and its threats.   These topics play a large part in Wal-Mart’s business strategy by locating the internal and external areas of impact for continued success and any weaknesses that not only affect the image of the company, but all the parties who helped them become the giants they are in their industry.
