Wait Until Dark Critique

Wait Until Dark When you are first walking into the theatre you see the set and it was put together how you would expect it to look in the mid-nineties. The set was done in an apartment style setting; it had the basic set up but with the addition of a photographer’s dark room along with prints of the work on the wall. On the walls you could see some kind of splattering and it honestly had me wondering if it was part of the play or the material had been reused and not redone. Then you hear the music playing as you walk to your seat. The music selection was rather suspenseful and thrilling it made you really think about what kind of play you were going to experience. The lights went dark signaling the beginning of the play and the first thing that happens is the doorbell rings then enters Mike Talman who is played by Alex Hernandez. Alex’s character in the play to some becomes a favored person because he in a way befriends Susy then ends up letting her go in the end only to end up dead himself. Alex’s acting in the play was good he stayed open to the audience so we could hear what he was saying and didn’t mess up on his lines from what I could tell. His interaction with the other actors was very well and seemed natural. The next actor to enter the set was Sargent Carlino played by Tate Detten. His acting was good but he tended to put his back to the audience often and didn’t seem to project his voice very well when he did turn his back so it made it hard to hear him; also he stumbled on a few lines but played it off well. He played his character well and again he did a good job with interacting with the actors. Then enters Harry Roat played by Bo Kemp who first came onto the set with an Irish accent and was very good at it. Bo as an actor is very versatile on who he can be on set. All around he is a superb actor; he was able to move from one character to the next with ease. He stayed open to the audience and his pitch was very nice and clear on what he was
