First get a trash bag, a new clean wafer, two or three wash cloths, water, Kleenex, powder, skin preps, a clean bag , a new clamp, and some scissors, then begin, Put the trash bag in a trash can. Put a new clean clamp on a new clean bag. Remove the lid from the powder; then open the skin prep. After you do that set everything aside and begin.
      Then take the clamp off the bottom of the bag and empty the bag. Then take the old bag off and throw it away. Having the Kleenex ready and in hand; gently take the wafer off but be careful because it hurts if you pull it off to fast. Clean the area with water; make sure the area is dry because the wafer will not stick to the skin if its wet. Then put the powder on the red areas but not on the stoma because it will burn like crazy. While changing keep a eye on the stoma it may release stool while getting ready to change; so be patient. Use both skin preps one at a time around the area that the wafer will go on; but again not on the stoma.
    Next cut a whole in the wafer 1/8 bigger than the stoma but no more. Be careful and remove all of the paper on the backing of the wafer. There is usually four pieces on them.   When handling the wafer to put it one; try not to let the outside of the wafer pucker or it will not get stick on the skin. Use your fingers to press the wafer in place gently starting at the bottom inside next to the stoma being in the circle on all areas of wafer; because this makes sure it sticks to your skin. Finally Attach the new bag to the wafer mad close the end with a clean new clamp. [continues]
