Violence on Television
Television is the most important sourc of information. It plays a significant role in people's lives. In these days, people spend a lot of time watching TV. Also, most of families stay in front of the TV having dinner and discussing about what happened in their day. Although most of people look at television as an entertaining and educational way to spend time, some people think there is too much violence in television and that it influences people to act violently. In other words, violent television programs affect the society and young children's behavior.

Nowadays, television contains a lot of scenes of violence such as guns, shootings, murders, hitting, slapping, screaming and death. Furthermore, a lot of movies and TV programs show that a rough and strong man always succeeds by using a gun and also the justice is achieved by using beating and gun. As a result, people especially young children, begin to see violence as an acceptable way of resolving conflicts, so they use some physical or verbal abuse toward others at school. Moreover, it makes them less sensitive to the pain and suffering of others. For example, many years ago and in the Columbine High School, two boys opened fire at their school and they killed some school mates and teachers and injured others. After investigation it became clear that they were affected by some movies and games which contained a lot of violence. In other words, violent movies and violent TV programs can destroy and affect a young child’s mind.

In fact, television is a double-edged sword which it has a good and bad side. Even though television offers a lot of violence, it offers a lot of benefits. It makes people learn and share cultural experience with others. It can be an educational tool by making children develop their learning skills and teaching them important values and life lessons.
