The main issue in this case surrounds Dennis Shaughnessy, senior vice-president for Corporate Development and general counsel for Charles River Laboratories (CRL), and the CRL board of directors and CEO Jim Foster. Shaughnesssy has proposed that CRL undertake a $2,000,000 joint venture project with the Mexican-based company ALPES in the development of a new SPAFAS facility, which quantitatively appears to project high returns. The issue at hand involves Shaughnessy selling the idea to the speculative board of directors and CEO, all carrying many concerns regarding the social and economical safety of a decision to do business in Mexico. Should the CRL board of directors and CEO accept the proposal? Or should they demand an alternative? The following analysis is based under the assumption of a CRL/ALPES joint venture.…

of the joint venture would benefit both companies if the terms of the agreement were favorable for both parties. It is also noted in the case that Sakari had another option of expanding its operations into the European (EU) market (primarily the United Kingdom), which in turn split the corporation into two “camps” – one for the joint venture with Nora and one against it. While Sakari had a second strategy to pursue, Nora already placed a competitive bid for the TMB project and was in dire need of a partner to fulfill its contract.…

This is a trip report for the Web Science Conference 2009 (WebSci'09) that took place from the 18th to the 20th of March 2009, in Athens, Greece. Location: The Conference was held at the “Hellenic Cosmos” complex of the Foundation of the Hellenic World. Hellenic Cosmos was indeed very suitable for such an event. The place was technologically equipped, the location was easily accessible for me, both by public transportation and by car, with adequate parking space. Although I stayed in Piraeus, I can assume that the transportation to/from the Conference was equally easy for all the participants. Organization: Concerning the organization and the advertisement of WebSci'09, I have to say that everything was well planed and the conference was quite publicized. However, and this was not an objection of me alone, most of the publicity was due to the unusually large number of members of the Greek Parliament that talked during the Conference. Workshops, Talks, Posters: I attended the Web Science Curriculum Workshop and just the first hour of the UIWoSC Workshop due to my jet lag. I understand that the two workshops were planned to have only a few participants, however they were very interesting and illustrative of the struggle to determine the boundaries of an emerging scientific area. To say my opinion, I cannot see web science independent of computer science, and I think the most plausible direction is the one of information science, as it is called in the U.S. I attended several talks and enjoyed most of them, although the topics of some sessions diverged too much from my idea of what web science should/will be, e.g. the “Cultural Convergence and Digital Technology” session. I had the chance to talk to a few people about my research and get some interesting ideas on more applied directions; I was a bit disappointed though, that two of the three other speakers in my session did not show up. Finally, a few thoughts about the Poster Session.…

On my trip to the Juan Francesco Luis Hospital, I just wanted to meet the people who would show us the different areas that we went to, and who they were. So, they finally came and there were 2 ladies Ms .Melonie Montoute (Nurse Recruiter) and Ms. Pamela Toussaint (Director of Recruiting). There were 34 of us on this field trip and out of the 2 ladies we had to choose who to go with and so forth. As they introduced themselves, they also told us about the history of the hospital. So, in 1982 the government received funds to open up the new hospital which was then named St. Croix Hospital and was changed to Juan F. Luis in 1994. They also asked us what we would like to be that has anything pertaining to working in the nursing, and ultrasound technician and so forth. After that we split into two groups. One group went with Ms. Toussaint and other classmates and I went with Ms. Montoute. The first place we went to learn about was the E.R (Emergency Room). And the head nurse (Donna JnBaptiste-Manning) is who told us about theirs jobs.…

On 19th of March 2014, my tutor, classmate and I went to a Vietnamese Buddhism Temple. I was very exciting before the trip. Since I don’t have transport to go to the temple, I went to the classroom that we used to go during our class time and gathered with my tutor to ask her to fetch me to the Vietnamese Buddhism Temple. When I reached the classroom, our tutor, Dr Lili Zhang was talking to a male tutor about some trip to Japan and how the people there treat foreigner. So at around 12.55pm, we departed from our university to the temple. Since most of the students in our class have their own transport, there were only three students including me in the car. In the car, my tutor asked me about the lost planes of Malaysia and she briefly explained what we will go in the Vietnamese Buddhism Temple. It took 5 to 10 minutes to reach the Vietnamese Buddhism Temple. When we reached the Vietnamese Buddhism Temple, we saw many cars had parked at the car park of the Vietnamese Buddhism Temple and our first thought is most of the cars are the car of our classmates. This is because usually there is no much people will go to the Vietnamese Buddhism Temple. Once we had parked the car, we were gathered at the front door of the Vietnamese Buddhism Temple to wait all of our classmates who wanted to come. That day was like 8degree Celsius and I was so freezing that day. While we were waiting for our classmates, our tutor talked about the design of the temple. What exterior materials that they used for the Vietnamese Buddhism Temple and the color of the building. She also explained why they used those materials to build the Vietnamese Buddhism Temple. She said all of the material was brought from China, all the dragon on the rooftop, the two big dragons placed at the front door, all the statues, and some little stuff. Once all of our classmates were there, our tutor asked us to follow her to walk around the Vietnamese Buddhism Temple. We were led by…
