Venus and Serena Williams

Venus and Serena Williams are nationally known tennis players, who have made their mark in history by being the first African American sisters to play against each other. Venus and Serena started at an early age working towards Olympic medals, coveted awards, and national championships. By the time Serena reached aged seventeen, she had fifteen career titles, and Venus had twenty-five career titles by the time she reached age nineteen. Venus and Serena are professional tennis players who have played many times in Grand Slam finals. Both sisters have been ranked World No. 1 in their career. Although Venus and Serena Williams are both professional tennis players, they have accomplished many different things separately. Venus had won twenty-five career titles by the age of nineteen. In 1994, Venus went 7-5 in her twelve matches after playing only seven matches since her professional debut. In 1996, Venus’s serve at the Bauch and Lomb Championships was recorded at 108 miles per hour, which was the ninth fastest serve on tour that year. In 1998, Venus won her first singles title, the IGA Tennis Classic. Venus did not stop there, she went on to win the French Open in 2002, against her sister Serena, and this match made her number one in the world. Venus has won more than five Wimbledon titles, something that has been only achieved by two other athletes. Venus is admired by women all over the world because of her talent and winning record in the sport of tennis that she adores. Venus has added excitement to the tennis world with her talent and determination, all of which is the result of her strong work ethics and encouragement of her father, Richard Williams. Coached by their father, Richard Williams, the Williams sisters have been known for their powerful awareness in the tennis sector.
